Hello everyone, from know on Ill keep my blog in English, so all of you will know what´s going on!
This weekend we had the first round oft the IXS European Downhill Cup at the Monte Tamaro in Switzerland! As the last years winner I was looking forward to defend my win from the last year!
Some issues in the past weeks, didn´t make it easy for me to be ready for a 5min race like this weekend
After WC in Pietermaritzburg I had a massive car accident, which wasn´t my fault, luckily nothing-bad happened to me and my girlfriend. But my hole body and neck had been sore from the crash. A week later I got a real bad infection in my knee, probably from the accident where I hit it.
All in all there was almost no DH riding and training in April and unfortunately I´m still struggling a bit with my knee.
Back to the race:
Practice on Friday and Saturday went pretty good the track was a lot of fun and the weather did its best to have two good days! , I just wasn´t able to ride long, arm pump was horrible. In my seeding run I had to slow down a lot at the bottom part of the track, wasn´t really able to hold my handlebar any more. I ended up on 15th, wasn´t really happy with that! I showed me that no Dh riding in the past isn´t the best…
On Sunday everything changed, heavy rain and fog, forced the organisers to cancel the race because the helicopter couldn´t fly if someone get injured.
The result form the seeding run has been taken as race result, so 15th place is quite a bit disappointing for me right now.
The next days I try to get the power back in my hands to be back on base, like I was after New Zealand!
See you soon!
